Innovating for Dutch entrepreneurs

At the Dutch Chamber of Commerce, my work in the innovation team focused on bringing ideas to life. We took these ideas&concepts and transformed them into something tangible - proof of concepts, user journeys, mockups and prototypes.

As an entrepreneur myself, I understand the challenges faced by business owners daily. This insight helped me emphasize the importance of solutions that put users first.

One of the parts of my role was helping the organisation to better understand user experience. I developed a practical framework to guide the team in choosing the most effective research methods. This has been key in driving innovative thinking within the organisation.

Innovation is about experimenting and exploring new ideas & technologies, together. We looked into new areas such as Web3, NFTs, SSI and DAOs.

We also prototyped a digital wallet that could help make business transactions and identity verification easier and more secure for entrepreneurs.

Additionally, I've been of great help during Covid by facilitating co-creation workshops and preparing Miro board sessions.

A lot of user journeys, prototypes and mockups have been created by me during the 2 years at the innovation team. To highlight another design: I've created a prototype of an idea for a central place with all relevant info regarding your company: Related news, legislation, subsidy and industry statistics.

As I briefly took you through a few things I did, I hope this gives you a bit of an image of what I did.

Typically my proces was like this:

  • What is the problem behind the problem?

  • Rephrase it to a challenge

  • Asking questions, a lot. Like, for whom are we doing this, why are we doing this? Is this really innovative, why is it (not)? What is the goal, how would it benefit the entrepreneurs?

  • Research (using both qualitative and quantitative data)

  • Mapping, user journey creation

  • Gather ideas

  • Choosing the best ideas

  • Build (a prototype)

  • Measure

  • Learn

  • Repeat

Through innovation and a deep understanding of the entrepreneur's journey, we aimed to make doing business easier, more secure and more efficient.
